It’s probably safe to say that when your parents brought you into the world, they weren’t dreaming of Twitch streaming as your path to fame and fortune.
But maybe Ross’s parents were different. That path seems to have worked out for Adin Ross, who is currently worth $2 million. Although this is just an estimate, and in the Twitch streaming world estimates can vary widely.
What isn’t in question is how popular Ross has become. He has over 4 million followers on Twitch, 1.2 million subscribers on his YouTube Channel, and over half a million fans on Twitter.
So how did he get here, journey-wise? His story certainly is remarkable-the 20-year old was born in Boca Raton, Florida, and he is Jewish, with an older sister named Naomi. Ross grew up in Fresno, where Ross went to Hebrew school, and he supposedly used to skip sketches to stream on Twitch.
His home life has generously been described as unsettled. His parents had an unstable relationship, and apparently “unsettled” includes Ross revealing on a podcast that he was stabbed in his sleep when he was nine by an erratic relative.
Ross freely admits that he struggles with depression and thoughts of suicide, but that hasn’t derailed him from his unique path to success, and he claims that his Twitch streaming and gaming career has helped him cope with his demons.
They certainly have kept him busy. His earnings are now estimated to be $3-5 million a month, but again, those are estimates, and Twitch streamers definitely like to talk a big game.
Ross cut his gaming teeth on NBA 2K, mastering the platform to develop a following that once watched him win a $50,000 wager during a long night of streaming. Ross’s rep skyrocketed when he befriended LeBron James’ son, Bronny, but that was just the beginning of Ross showing his game when it comes to making friends in high places. Name a famous young rapper, and Ross has probably claimed him as a friend at some point.
Feuds are part of the formula as well. These started when Ross got into a serious beef with another rapper, Charles “Julio Foolio” Jones, after Ross was caught singing one of the rapper’s songs during a couple of his streams.
He’s become notorious for starting Twitch wars with other rappers and streamers, and there’s a definite WWE quality to many of these beefs. All of which makes some of his followers wonder if any of this is real, or if it’s really all about the pub and the money.
Not surprisingly, his love life is all over the map, too. A stolen kiss with fellow streamer Corinna Kopf during a recent live stream generated a rumor tsunami, but Ross insisted he was still dating a girl known only as “Stacy.” His current dating status seems to be up in the air, so expect another controversy about that to hit the airwaves soon.
As for Ross’s income, its currently coming from Twitch, his YouTube channel and gaming sponsorship deals. He recently “inadvertently” announced a new gaming sponsorship during YouTube broadcast, but much of his future income will likely depend on whether the Twitch streaming phenomenon turns out to be a staple of the gaming world or a short-lived bubble.
