Gold Rush has grown to become one of the top reality shows on the Discovery Channel. However, some original cast members have left the show, including gold prospector Todd Hoffman. Despite taking a four-year break from mining, Todd is back on Discovery with his show “Hoffman Family Gold”. Currently, Todd Hoffman has a net worth of $7 million.
Early Life
Hoffman was born on January 1, 1970 and is originally from Sandy, Oregon. His mother is Georgia, and his father Jack Hoffman also appears on Gold Rush. Jack worked as a gold prospector in the 1980s and learned about mining at a young age.
Jack always dreamed of becoming rich through gold mining, and this became an inspiration to Todd. However, before digging for gold, Todd owned a small airport in Oregon but the airport wasn’t very profitable.
Mining Career
Todd moved to Porcupine Creek, Alaska, with a group of six friends. Their plan was to find gold and establish a new settlement in the wild where they could live off the grid.
Eventually, the Hoffman crew became a part of Discovery Channel’s Gold Rush. They starred in the first season, and many of their gold discoveries were documented on the show.
He was also featured in some of the show’s spin-offs. Most of his crew left in season five, but he kept mining alongside his father. Three seasons later, in 2018, the Hoffman’s left the long-running series as Todd wanted to pursue a career as a singer.
Further Pursuits
After leaving Gold Rush, Todd Hoffman invested his earnings from Gold Rush into various businesses. Currently, he is spending time on his newfound passion for music and uploads covers onto YouTube.
Todd also co-founded Zum Media Productions and put his money into another production company called Gold Standard Television. With ties to the media production industry, he started his latest show “Hoffman Family Gold” in 2022.
The mining expert invested in three wash plants and equipment worth $1 million. Furthermore, he is making an effort to help out local communities with a substance treatment facility.
Net Worth and Earnings
It is reported that most of Hoffman’s wealth was earned through appearing on Gold Rush. When Todd was still on the show, he was making $25,000 per episode. However, it hasn’t been disclosed how much he gets paid on his new series.
Gold mining is a tough business due to the high costs and the difficulty in finding good land. Over the years, Todd and his crew struggled and mostly lost money. As a result Todd relied on his earnings from Discovery to make it worthwhile.
Now, the majority of his income comes from owning production companies. Todd Hoffman has a net worth of $7 million and is the third richest miner on Gold Rush. Tony Beets is the richest miner with a $15 million net worth and Parker Schnabel has a $10 million fortune.
Personal Life
Todd is married to Shawana Hoffman and they’ve been together for over 25 years. The couple has two children, Hunter and Hudson. Hunter regularly features with his father on reality TV and has become more comfortable on camera. Todd is passionate about cars, and also owns a motorhome.
Hoffman Family Gold
The big guy is back on our screen with season 2 of Hoffman’s Family Gold premiers on June 16th 2023. Todd and the gang will be returning to Alaska in a bid to find enough gold to pay off a $750,000 debt! Hunter will be running his own wash plant and the 24-year old is eager to impress his dad.
