If you’re a fan of the hit Netflix series, Ozark, then you’ve almost certainly enjoyed the acting skills of Sofia Hublitz. who plays Charlotte, the daughter of Marty and Wendy Byrde. She’s become a star as a member of the notorious, problematic Byrde family. Fans of Hublitz got to see her play an important role in season 4, which unfortunately was Ozark’s swan song.
But there’s more to Sofia Hublitz than just her supporting role in Ozark. Foodies may remember her as a prominent contestant in MasterChef Junior, where she ran afoul of Gordon Ramsey after making a mistake in a particularly memorable confrontation.
She also has several other noteworthy roles to her credit. Hublitz played a recurring role in the FX series, “Louie,” and she also starred in a web series called “Horace and Pete.”
Hublitz was born in Virginia in 1999 and her family moved several times, including stops in New York and North Carolina, where they still live. She did undergo a serious tragedy in 2018 when her dad died, but Hublitz still managed to fulfill her creative dreams, training at the Professional Children’s College in Manhattan.
Her proclivities for food come from mom, who is both a chef and restaurant owner with a formidable reputation in the industry. She owns restaurants in Charlottesville, North Carolina and Richmond, which perhaps explains daughter Sophie’s ability to adapt to the southern milieu that’s such a strong part of Ozark.
Hublitz is now signed with a Beverly Hills talent agency, and her career has already taken some intriguing turns. When she was part of the cast on “Louie,” Hublitz was part of an ill-fated, inadvertent plot twist when Louis CK had what’s been described as sexual misconception issues, which turned out to be a misnomer for sexual harassment.
Ozark has had no such issues, and the series has been wildly successful, growing in popularity with each new season. Hublitz has gotten her share of acclaim for her role in Charlotte’s sexual coming of age scenes, which features a gut-wrenching encounter with a young redneck college boy who casts her aside after their first encounter.
Her film career is just underway. She debuted in “What Breaks the Ice,” a coming of age thriller set in the mid-90s that places Hublitz in the middle of a murder mystery.
If you’re looking for odd footnotes to her evolving career, Hublitz also has a single song performance to her credit. During her time as a junior master chef, Hublitz does some voicing for a song called “Where are Grenades,” a performance that probably ranks as one of the most regrettable of her fledgling career.
On the personal side, her dating life remains a mystery, which is something of an accomplishment given all the prying eyeballs online who would love to know more about her love life. Hublitz has worked hard to keep that part of her life a secret but she is rumored to be dating David Gagliardi.
Hublitz’s net worth is a bit of a mystery, too. It’s believed that Jason Bateman and Laura Linney have been making $300,000 per episode, and given Hublitz’s growing role in each successive season, it seems safe to assume she’s up to six figures per episode. Throw in a film debut, her previous experience and the fact that she’s done work for three different agencies, we estimate Sofia has a net worth of $750,000 and growing.
