But Nick Vujicic is the opposite of all that. He’s become a genuine inspiration for millions in his dual role, and to do that he’s had to overcome the setback of being born without limbs. Early Days
Nick Vujicic began his journey in Melbourne, Australia in 1982. He was born with a rare condition called Tetra-amelia syndrome which is the reason he has no legs and arms.
Because of Victorian state law, Vujicic wasn’t allowed to attend public school, although he was eventually mainstreamed into the state school system when the laws were changed. As laudable as that achievement was, Vujicic was also an obvious target for bullies, and he became depressed and suicidal.
But Vujicic became convinced that God had a plan for him, especially when he began to realize that his accomplishments could inspire others. He writes using the two twos on his left foot, and he can type 45 words a minute using them along with a special grip.
He can also play golf, swim and perform many other daily activities that the rest of us take for granted, and he even has a video in which he deftly does backflips on a trampoline. As his story spread and he became more popular, Vujicic decided to found his non-profit foundation, Life Without Limbs.

Nick Vujicic is literally a man on a mission, and his astounding success is rooted in the messages of hope he conveys as an international speaker. His faith-based presentations are riveting, and he’s also written a series of books based on how he’s overcome what others perceive to be his limitations.

He’s been on CBS, PBS and with Oprah telling his unique story, which has also been featured in USA Today, along with many other publications. When it comes to his personal life, Vujicic has been equally relentless. In 2008 he met Kanae Miyahara through a friend and by 2012 they were married. They live in Southern California and currently have four children.
