She began as an Avon representative at the young age of 12, selling cosmetic items to her teachers. For less than one year, she attended Technische Universität Dresden and went to Saint Petersburg State University to study econometrics and quantitative economics.
The young woman moved to California, USA, to get her master’s degree in marketing at Johns Hopkins University. With a full scholarship, she went to the University of Florida to do her MBA.

Their first customers were friends, and they did everything offline. They planned to take their company international, but they couldn’t do it in their home country. So, it became Marina’s second reason to move to the US.
While applying for scholarships, she was also looking for investors in her business. Mogilko received a $100,000 investment from venture capital firm 500 Startups and moved to Silicon Valley. Under LinguaTrip, she created Fluent Express.
YouTube Career
Marina’s first YouTube channel is a self-titled account in which she uploads lifestyle and language videos in Russian. She started uploading content in 2014 and shares videos regularly to attract new customers to her business.
Her Russian channel worked out fine, but when she decided to make an English channel named Linguamarina, the views skyrocketed. Ad revenue also surged, and she believed that it would be a stable income source. After her rise in popularity, the entrepreneur started other pursuits.
She created language workbooks and online courses about content creation. She also launched her third channel, Silicon Valley Girl, which chronicles her daily life in Silicon Valley. Her three YouTube channels now have a combined subscriber count of 7.8 million.
