Early Life
Lyn was born in Atlantic City in 1990 and growing up, Lyn and her mother were homeless for several years. They lived in shelters, motels, and even a car for a time. Her mother was actually a lawyer and earned a high income but ran into difficulty after losing her job.
Fortunately, her situation improved over time, and moved into a trailer park with her father. Because of these difficult circumstances, she got into saving and investing at a young age.
To attend college, Lyn took out a $50,000 student loan and worked part-time while completing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University. She later earned a master’s in Engineering Management at Rowan University.
Investing Career
Before becoming a full-time investor, Alden spent over a decade in the aviation industry. From 2009 to 2021 she worked as an electrical engineer, and later head engineer and system integrator, at the Federal Aviation Administration’s Cockpit Simulation Facility.
In 2016, she set up Lyn Alden Investment Strategy as a side project, and over the next few years it grew large enough that she left engineering to focus on it full time. Her firm provides research, knowledge, and resources to support investors in finding new opportunities and managing risk, serving everyone from beginner investors to institutional clients.

With a paid subscriber base built over nearly a decade, this is her most consistent income stream. She also contributes to the higher-priced Stock Waves research service, which combines her fundamental analysis with technical and sentiment work from other contributors.
On top of subscriptions, Alden earns from three significant board and partnership roles. She is a general partner at Ego Death Capital, a Bitcoin-focused venture capital firm that closed a $100 million fund in July 2025, with portfolio companies including Bitcoin self-custody app Relai and Bitcoin-built securities exchange Roxom.
