As a child, he was always fascinated with art, and Walt Disney was his inspiration. Because of this, his dream was to become an animator for The Walt Disney Company.

This led to Bromstad being placed on leave. To make ends meet, he worked several jobs. Then, in 2006, he launched a design company, Bromstad Studio. He started doing interior design consultations, designing furniture, and selling wallpapers.
He relocated to Miami Beach after a friend’s advice and applied for the debut season of HGTV’s Design Star. It was a competition show, searching for the next HGTV host and David Bromstad became the first winner of the series.
David then became a recurring guest on Design Star and was chosen to be the host of Design Star All-Stars in 2012. He went on to become a fan favorite on various HGTV shows.
His most successful project is hosting My Lottery Dream Home, where he helps lottery winners use their earnings to build a home. The show started airing in 2015, and it’s currently in its thirteenth season.
