As his name suggests, CryptoCobain, or simply Cobie, is a cryptocurrency enthusiast who has deep knowledge about the industry. He is an investor, analyst, podcaster, and Twitter personality. He was once considered by CoinDesk as a top ten token trader and analyst. In 2022, CryptoCobain has an estimated net worth of $5 million.
Background
Cobie is an British citizen whose real name is Jordan Fish. He earned a Computer Science degree from the University of Bristol in 2013. Before Fish was a star in the cryptocurrency world, he was in charge of several departments in different sectors in modern technology.
From January 2013 through April 2015, Jordan was the Director of Technology at CYOA. After departing from his first occupation, he became Enki.com’s Head of Growth from 2015 to 2017.
Then, he spearheaded product growth at an online bank called Monzo. It was based in the UK, and he worked there from 2017 to 2020. He ended his term there as the Director of Product.
Becoming a Crypto Influencer
In 2014, Cobie and Luke Mitchell launched Maxcoin, a cryptocurrency based on the celebrity of Max Keiser. Max himself interviewed the pair on his show ‘the Keiser Report’ and the project got some big publicity. The price of Maxcoin was over $2 back then but has since crashed over 99%. The project is pretty much dead now and trades for less than 1 cent per token.
Investing in Bitcoin was Cobie’s first dive into the crypto space. When Ethereum came out, he had his doubts, but he eventually embraced the innovative qualities of the new blockchain.
Even before he left Monzo, he was already a cryptocurrency analyst and a good one at that. It was in 2017 that he was recognized by CoinDesk as a top-performing trader. But it was after he left his work at the bank that his online presence skyrocketed.
On his Twitter page, he shares his opinions on a lot of crypto-related matters. This includes his opinions on the current and future crypto market as well as his personal crypto holdings, which he states are only 5% of his net worth. Now, his account has over 642,000 followers.
The UpOnly Podcast
Cobie, along with Brian “Ledger” Krogsgard, hosts the UpOnly podcast. The program has interviews with famous investors and discusses current trends in the cryptocurrency economy.
The UpOnly Podcast hosts have talked to the biggest names in crypto. This includes Vitalik Buterin, Michael Saylor, and Joseph Lubin. Their YouTube channel has over 49,000 subscribers, and it’s still growing.
They are also active on the live streaming platform Twitch under the name UpOnlyTV. Cobie and his audience sometimes “raid” random streamers, giving tens of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency to them.
Personal Life
Cobie has many followers, but he does not share much of his personal details with them. He is strictly up for crypto and economics-related topics. One of his most recent claims is his views on Bitcoin versus Ethereum.
In one discussion with the CEO of Three Arrows Capital, Su Zhu, and fellow analyst Hasu, he explains the threat of Ethereum to Bitcoin. He outlines how ETH has the power to stifle the development of BTC.
According to Cobie, if Ethereum’s market cap overtakes Bitcoin for an extended amount of time, it could endanger the current status of the leading virtual currency. That’s because long-term BTC holders will convert their assets to ETH.
