Like all business sectors, real estate is ever-evolving. Brandon Turner, the founder of Open Door Capital, is an expert in the field, and does his best to keep up with the latest trends. This helps him be an effective educator through his BiggerPockets podcast and books. As of 2023, Brandon Turner has a net worth of $10 million.
Early Life
Brandon was born in Washington, DC on July 9, 1985. Before becoming a millionaire, he struggled through life. He was covered in student debt while working for a history degree at Northwestern College.
Turner had the idea to start an oil change service at 19 years old. But after making the company logo, he gave up and the Washington native worked in various service-style jobs. After graduating in 2006, he worked at Cold Stone Creamery, scooping ice cream. Then, he was employed by a bank and made $12 to $13 per hour.
Real Estate Career
Brandon had plenty of free time while working at a group home. Because of this, he watched various home improvement TV shows, which inspired him to start investing in real estate.
At 21 years old, he bought his first property, a duplex wherein he lived on one side and rented out the other half. He quickly expanded his portfolio to include over 40 units by utilizing a range of financial strategies.
Though flipping houses was his initial motivation, it wasn’t a big part of his future business model. He bought properties that generate passive income, like apartments and trailer parks, to build wealth faster. Grant Cardone follows a similar investing strategy.
Further Success
With his expertise, Brandon was invited to become a co-host of the BiggerPockets financial podcast in 2013. He was a major part of the show’s journey to reaching the top of the real estate category on iTunes.
BiggerPockets helped him publish several books, including Real Estate Investing with No (and Low) Money Down, The Book on Real Estate Investing, and The Multifamily Millionaire. In 2019, he founded a real estate investment firm called Open Door Capital.
To focus on his new business, as well as his family, Brandon announced that he would be taking a break from the BiggerPockets podcast in 2021. The property mogul hasn’t yet announced when he’ll make a comeback.
Net Worth and Earnings
Real estate is the main source of Brandon Turner’s fortune. His apartments and trailer parks are some of his biggest investments. Open Door Capital is now managing over 7,400 units worth over $650 million.
Sharing his expertise has also become a substantial income stream. The BiggerPockets podcast has recorded over 100 million downloads overall. Some of his books also became top-sellers on Amazon. All of this adds up to a net worth of $10 million.
Personal Life
Brandon Turner has been a married man since 2014. His wife is his long-time partner, Heather. They are currently raising a daughter named Rosie in their home in Grays Harbor County, Washington.
