Early Life
Marques Brownlee was born in Maple Wood, New Jersey on December 3, 1993. As a child, he became fascinated with technology. The techie attended Columbia High School and graduated in 2011.
Standing at 6 foot 2, Marques had the perfect physique to play sports. In 8th grade, he began playing frisbee and tried golf. He studied business and IT at Stevens Institute of Technology and finished his degree in 2015.
YouTube Career
While in high school, MKBHD uploaded his first YouTube video in 2009. Initially, he made videos about golf and later moved to reviewing tech products. He continued making hundreds of videos that were mostly hardware demonstrations and was consistent with uploads.
After graduating from college, Brownlee worked full-time on YouTube. Over time, he got exposure through major outlets featuring his videos in articles. In 2014, his popular video series, “The Smartphone Awards” helped him break out.
