Eyewris is a solution to a long-standing issue faced by many who require reading glasses. The product was brought to life by Mark Singer and his son Kenzo Singer. The duo appeared on season 14 of Shark Tank and closed a deal with all five Sharks! Eyewris is worth an estimated $1 million.
They presented their foldable reading glass design that can be worn on your wrist, providing a simple solution for those who often misplace their glasses. The father and son duo gave a heartwarming pitch that had some of the Sharks in tears. Lori Greiner in particular was really touched by the pitch.
The Founders
Mark Singer is an award-winning inventor and master craftsman who is no stranger to business. His previous creations, including the renowned Gorilla Glue and Giati Designs. Gorilla Glue itself is now worth over $100 million!
Kenzo Singer, a Cornell University graduate with a background in structural engineering and architecture, was working in LA when he joined forces with his father to create Eyewris. Kenzo’s design acumen played a significant role in creating an efficient method to make the glasses curl around the wrist, an innovation called the bi-stable bridge that is the backbone of the Eyewris design.
Founding Eyewris
It took years for Mark and Kenzo to perfect the design, they also went through a failed Kickstarter campaign where they only raised $10,000.
The Eyewris glasses were quickly recognized for their design quality, even earning the prestigious Red Dot award. Crafted with ultra-durable lenses that are 10 times more impact-resistant than regular glass or plastic lenses.
They provide 100% UV protection and include a blue light filter. Packaged in a hard protective case with a cleaning cloth, the glasses are made of nickel-titanium memory metal, stainless steel, Swiss-developed lightweight TR-90 thermoplastic, and scratch-resistant lenses. This provides durability and comfort for the wearer.
Update After Shark Tank
Following their Shark Tank appearance, Eyewris experienced the infamous “Shark Tank effect” over the following 48 hours. Also, the fact their episode was emotional increased its distribution online. The type of publicity that is worth millions!
The unique feature of the glasses curling around the wrist and their premium quality made Eyewris a standout product with little competition, which helped it capture a significant market share. Their patented design has huge potential and could earn significant revenue from licensing alone.
Currently, Eyewris glasses are sold exclusively on their official website, retailing for $110 per pair. Despite the higher price point compared to normal reading glasses, the value proposition offered in terms of style, convenience, and quality make Eyewris a worthwhile investment for customers.
