Chris Sacca is venture capitalist who rose to prominence with his fund, Lowercase Capital. Sacca made his fortune investing early in the likes of Uber, Twitter, Stripe and Instagram. Something he likes to share! Chris previously worked at Google and was a guest investor on Shark Tank. According to Forbes, Chris Sacca has a net worth of $1.2 billion.

    Early Life

Hailing from Lockport, New York, Christoper Sacca was born on May 12, 1975. His father, Gerald, is an attorney, while his mother, Katherine, is an author and professor. His younger brother, Brian, is a famous actor and comedian.

As a youngster his parents introduced him to a range of hobbies, which made him an exceptional student. In 1997, he graduated cum laude with a degree in foreign service. In 2000, Sacca obtained a Doctor of Law in law and technology from Georgetown University.

    Career Beginnings

During law school, Chris started a company using his student loans but it failed. After graduating, he worked as an Associate at Fenwick & West in Silicon Valley before getting laid off. By this time he was 25 years old and had $4 million in debt accumulated through day trading.

He spent the next few months surviving as a freelancer doing voice-over work and drafting contracts. After founding The Salinger Group, a networking organization, he was hired by Speedera Networks.

Later Google recruited him to serve as Head of Special Initiatives, managing wireless divisions, and alternative access. He went to lead many of Google’s acquisitions to help them maintain their dominance as the leading search engine.

    Rise to Success

While working at Google, Chris began investing in startups as an angel investor. His first investment was Photobucket, an image hosting website and later invested in Twitter in its infancy. Sacca left Google in 2007 to focus more on angel investing in early-stage startups.

In 2010, he set up a venture capital firm, Lowercase Capital and pumped money in startups including Kickstarter, Docker, Uber, and Instagram. 10 years later, Sacca co-founded a second fund, Lowercarbon – with the goal of funding companies that make money while slashing CO2 emissions.

The success of his ventures helped him become a guest investor on Shark Tank, where he had some heated arguments with fellow tech billionaire Mark Cuban. Despite the drama on camera, the two remain good friends. However, Chris retired from venture capital in 2017 and decided to leave the show.

    Net Worth and Earnings

In February 2011, Sacca invested $400 million into Twitter and owned a 9% stake in the company. When Twitter went public in late 2013, his funds owned 18% of the social media site and their investment rose to $1 billion! Rather than retire after hitting a big return, he started another two venture capital firms.

He has financed 80 companies with Lowercase Capital and 50 with Lowercarbon. Moreover, there are his undisclosed earnings from his stint at Shark Tank. Based on a tweet from May 2021, he owns a small crypto portfolio including Bitcoin, Ethereum and various altcoins. All of these activities have helped Chris Sacca to reach a fortune worth $1.2 billion.

    Personal Life

Chris Sacca is married to Lowercase partner and author Crystal English Sacca. The couple met at Georgetown University and are raising three girls together. They own two homes, one in Big Sky, Montana, and one in Jackson, Wyoming. A YouTube channel called “Famous Luxury” claims his real estate portfolio is worth $16 million.
