Many artists make a name for themselves in their teens, feature in a slew of TV shows and films, and then seemingly disappear. This is the case with Lindsay Lohan. She captured the hearts of many as the cute twins in The Parent Trap (1998) and as Cady Heron in Mean Girls (2004). But after starring in a few hit projects, Lindsay hasn’t been in the headlines much.
Background
Lindsay Dee Lohan grew up in Long Island, New York, and is the eldest of three siblings. Her mother is a former singer and dancer, while her father, a former Wall Street trader.
Over the years, she’s worn a lot of different hats, as an actor, producer, singer, and entrepreneur. Her journey into the big time began at age of three when Lohan was recruited to Ford Models.
Her Road to Fame
After Ford Models, she worked with Abercrombie and Calvin Klein Kids. At 10 years old, Lohan starred in the television soap opera Another World as Alexandra “Alli” Fowler.
Lohan left to the lead in Disney’s 1998 family classic The Parent Trap. She would continue to star on Disney, becoming one of the top icons in the 2000s, along with the likes of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
Hollywood Downfall
There are many factors that contribute to Lindsay Lohan leaving Hollywood. But perhaps the root of it all can be traced back to her alcohol and drug abuse. Lohan’s rap sheet is a little too big to print in full. But she managed to fit a lot of jail terms, probation violations, DUI arrests, and one accusation of cocaine trafficking during 2007 to 2013.
This resulted in money problems, and by 2013, her acting accomplishments have been overtaken by her bad record. She wanted to avoid all the public scrutiny and moved to Dubai. She’s been residing there for the past six years.
Current Endeavors
It’s fair to say, Lindsay doesn’t have the greatest reputation in Hollywood. Directors had ceased casting her by the later part of her career because she was frequently absent from the set. But after some break and peace of mind, she is making a steady comeback.
She’s made a return to acting. Lindsay Lohan starred in a romcom Christmas movie, titled Falling for Christmas. Lohan will also feature in the film “Irish Wish” that will be released on Netflix in 2024. To help pay the bills, Lindsay is on Cameo, and charges $375 for a video message.
The actress is still active on social media. On Instagram, she announced her engagement to Bader Shammas in 2021, a financier who works in investment banking.
