Atypical, a Netflix original series, has received its first trailer. The new series from Robia Rashid (How I Met Your Mother), follows Sam (Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum and his family, and this comedy seems quite heartwarming.
Sam’s mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh), supports Sam on his journey of self-discovery, and his father (Michael Rapport), continues to struggle with change in their own lives. They wonder what it’s really like to be a normal family. His therapist Julia (Amy Okuda) is also there for him as he decides it’s time to start dating.
In Atypical’s first trailer, Sam’s mother asks him how his appointment went with his therapist went. Sam responds, “ She thinks that I should put myself out there and find someone to have sex with. She didn’t say the sex part, I added that.” Like any sister, Sam’s sister Casey spits out her food as she heard her brother mention the word sex at the dinner table.
If you loved 13 Reasons Why, you’ll definitely laugh and cry with the cast in Atypical. Atypical’s first season premieres Friday, Aug. 11 on Netflix.
