Old sitcoms are being revived left and right. Sometimes it is tweak on the original, like Fuller House. Sometimes they are truly awful as well…like Fuller House. However, recently it was announced that the original cast of Roseanne would be coming back for more episodes of that show, and Will & Grace is trying to do the same thing over at NBC. The original run of the show ran from 1998 until 2006, meaning that when it returns it will be 11 years since we last saw the show. That’s a pretty lengthy hiatus, but NBC is hoping that this new promo for the reboot will help assuage any concerns.
If you aren’t familiar with Will & Grace, it was about a couple of gay men, including the titular Will, and a couple of ladies they are friendly with, including the titular Grace, basically just hanging out and stuff. It was a classic hangout sitcom, made different because two of the main characters were gay. Back in 1998, this was notable. Additionally, all four leads, Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally, all won Emmys for their performances.
The promo tries to capture the energy of the original run of the show, and the quartet seem to have fallen right into their old rhythms. We’ll find out if that’s true September 28, when Will & Grace returns to NBC.
