With Sudden Strike 4, the World War II strategy game series finally is available on a console. The game is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 4, marking the series’ jump from the PC, although it will still be available for computer gamers as well, of course. It’s a big moment for the Sudden Strike series, and they are promoting it in part with a gameplay trailer for the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
It’s not a long look at the gameplay, but it’s enough to give you a sense of the war action showcased in the Sudden Strike series. The game champions its “chess-like strategic experience,” as it focuses on strategy above all else. In the game, you can command the British, American, German, or Soviet armies in over 100 different real battles from World War II. Now, you may wonder why somebody would want to play as the German army during World War II, but the option is there nevertheless.
For the first time ever, you can now choose to play as one of nine different military commanders, such as George Patton or Bernard Montgomery. It adds a further level of reality to the game, another improvement to the Sudden Strike series. The game will be released worldwide for the PC on August 11, and it will be released for the PlayStation 4 on August 15 in the United States. Fans of war games, but not of PC games, will likely be quite pleased with this turn of events.
