The North American release of hack-and-slash crossover title Warriors All-Stars is still about two months away from its late August release. But Koei Tecmo America is keen to prepare us for it with a detailing of the game’s comprehensive battle system, alongside a brand new trailer highlighting the enhanced gameplay, and introducing a slew of new characters to the game’s cast.
The trailer, which you can check out below, introduces members of the game’s Setsuna Clan: Dead or Alive’s Kasumi, Honoka, and Marie Rose, Nights of Azure’s Arnice and Christophorus, Deception’s Millenia and Laegrinna, the titular Nobunaga from Nobunaga’s Ambition and Rio of Rio, and original character Prince Setsuna leading the pack.
The game’s battle system takes the franchise’s one-versus-thousands style and supplements it with new additions, with each champion bringing their own style to the battlefield. Players can recruit up to four Warriors to the fray for special attacks like the Musou Rush, which clears the surrounding area of enemies. Hero Skills allow players to summon any ally for a special attack or defense, and can also be used in tandem for Combo Skills for major damage.
Similarly, allies can be summoned for combos and chain attacks for even more damage. Pulling off a successful offensive sequence can result in a Hero Combo, a synchronized attack that can wipe out hundreds of enemies. Meanwhile, Hero Chains can link Warriors together, while players still retain individual control over all of them, to utilize each hero more efficiently. This also helps improve a player’s Brave Rating, which improves offensive and defensive capabilities, while a high enough rating unlocks devastating Awakening Skills to obliterate anything in your path.
Warriors All-Stars hits North American shores on PlayStation 4 and Steam on August 29, 2017, but you can still check out Koei Tecmo America for the latest news, trailers, and updates.
