All movie studios plan their big blockbuster releases years ahead of time. They will schedule movies for release without even declaring what movie, exactly, will be coming out that day. Marvel has been particularly ambitious when it comes to their long term plans, and now the DC movies are following in their footsteps as well. Warner Brothers, the studio behind the DC films, has announced two movies from the DC Extended Universe to be released in 2020.
One of the movies is scheduled for Valentine’s Day aka February 14. The other is scheduled for June 5, making it a prime summertime release. What we don’t know, though, is what the movies will be. We may find out in the near future, though. On Saturday July 22, DC will be having their big Comic-Con panel, where a lot will surely be unveiled. One of the things expected to be revealed that day is the official announcement of Wonder Woman 2.
We know for certain that Wonder Woman 2 will be happening. The massive success of Wonder Woman guaranteed that. However, an official release date hasn’t been announced, and it hasn’t even been made official that Patty Jenkins will return to direct the sequel. The Jenkins announcement, as well as the release date, will likely be unveiled at Comic-Con.
Meanwhile, there are a few movies that could be announced as those two 2020 releases. The Batman could be saved for 2020, and there has also been talk of a Suicide Squad sequel, and a Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson. We’ll find out eventually, but what’s for sure is that DC seems to have big plans for 2020.
