Icarus is a crafting survival game where a team of explorers goes to the surface of a planet to gather resources and establish a foothold. The team must survive the planet for 20 days and head back to their space station alive. However, the planet is full of all manners of calamities like wildlife, diseases, and the planet is also set on murdering you. Your character lands on the planet with nothing except a pocket lint. So, you must look for survival tools. Read on to discover some tips for surviving bears in Icarus.
- Establish a Base. After landing on the planet, run west and a little bit south, and gather everything you find on the road. Eventually, you will reach a lake with a small island. Make this your base since you will get everything you want from the lake. You will have access to food, water, materials, and protection. The lake does not have fish, so you cannot get poisoned when swimming in the water.
- Tools. By now, you must have three talent points. Spend these points on tools like knives, bows, stones, and arrows. Now you can begin hunting. Look for bears and draw their attention by shooting them once and then running into the water. Bears will try to hunt you and swim after you in the lake. Swim backward until you are close enough to the bear. Use your knife to stab it in the head. The bear will be down within two or three swings. However, it will take up to thirteen swings to kill the bear. Bears will not attack you while in the water. As such, you will be 100% safe. Once the bear is dead, swim down and skin your prey. You will get experience, skins, meat, bones, and furs. Always stick around the lake since you can run into the water once there is an animal attack.
- Build a House. With the experience gained so far, you can now build a house on the island. The house will protect you against all animals. Begin with a wooden house and then upgrade to a stone one later. Make a bridge from your house to the nearest shore, but ensure you leave a gap between the shore and the edge of your bridge. This gap will allow you to jump but prevent animals from accessing the bridge. Now you are completely safe from anything.
- Talents and Skills. This game does not allow you to learn everything that you want. As such, you must choose what to learn carefully. Avoid learning low-tier skills since you want to save as many skill points as possible. When building your house, avoid thatch trees and learn wooden parts instead. Do not learn spears since a knife and bow are the only weapons you need. However, you will need a hunting rifle later on in the game. The first talent you want to learn is running. This talent will allow you to outrun bears with stamina.
