Supermix Studios isn’t just a brand; it’s a creative revolution in children’s fashion. Founded by Jennifer Stein-Bischoff, the startup claims to be the world’s first interactive custom clothing company for kids. With a valuation of $1 million and the recent spotlight on Shark Tank, the future’s looking bright. Luckily, she got a deal with Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec.
The Founder’s Story
Jennifer Stein-Bischoff’s childhood hobby of personalizing clothes developed into a career spanning over two decades, working with fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Sean John, and Aeropostale.
Her transition from a design director at GLO Jeans to the vice president of women’s design at Aeropostale was a big career move. With Supermix Studios, she’s channeling this expertise into a platform that empowers children to express their individuality through fashion.
Founding Supermix Studios
Launched in 2021, Supermix Studios offers two experiences: the Custom Shop and the Design Studio. While the Custom Shop allows for simple personalization, the Design Studio is a playground of creativity where kids can adorn their apparel with over 500 unique patches.
Supermix Studios is as much about eco-consciousness as it is about style. By using Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton and 100% recycled polyester for backpacks, the brand stands at the forefront of sustainable fashion. Even the packaging is eco-friendly, made from recovered trash and printed with algae ink, ensuring that the company’s carbon footprint is as diminutive as the clients it serves.
After Shark Tank
When Supermix Studios’ episode aired on 3 November 2023, Jennifer revealed sales increased by 2000% in an interview with SourcingJournal.com. Before Shark Tank, their website got 300 views on a good day, traffic spiked to 19,000 on the night the episode aired.
Given that Jennifer lowered her valuation from $2.5 million to $1 million, potentially the deal might not close. The royalty aspect of the deal will take a chunk of cash flow out of the business. She plans to use the cash to hire more staff, invest in its kiosk model and expand their direct-to-consumer model.
On SupermixStudios.com, you can personalize denim, sweatshirts, gift cards, and backpacks. The platform’s intuitive design interface, accessible via tablet or computer, allows kids to become the architects of their own style.
With prices ranging from $45 to $69 and each item coming with 200 “patch points,” creativity has never been more accessible. The company is actively looking for brand collaborations and has partnered with the likes of Mrs. Bench of Fidget Toys Plus and Zigazoo.
The site features tons of 5-star reviews from customers, revealing what they made on the computer was exactly what they received in the mail. Supermix Studios is growing rapidly and they are looking to hire a graphic designer to enhance their brand.
