Spider-Man is having a moment…for the third time in a little over a decade. A new film with yet another new Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Homecoming, is coming out soon. Perhaps to capitalize on the Spider-Man revitalization, Sony announced at E3 that Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released for PlayStation 4 in 2018.
Sony unveiled an extended gameplay trailer, which included such villain as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, and a gang called Demons, led by Martin Li, aka Mister Negative. Perhaps more importantly, though, there will be two Spider-Mans, or is that Spider-Men, in the game. In addition to Parker, the only Spider-Man we’ve seen in the movies thus far, Miles Morales will appear in the game. He took over the role of the famed webslinger in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.
Insomniac Games first announced they were working on a Spider-Man game at last year’s E3, but it’s good to finally get a look at the game. While Spider-Man has been an iconic character for years, even before the Tobey Maguire movies, there’s never really been a significant Spider-Man video game. Maybe Marvel’s Spider-Man will change that, although we’ll have to wait until 2018 when the game finally hits the shelves, to find out. For now, you can preorder the game, if you want to get to slinging webs as Parker, or Morales, as soon as possible.
