Sonic the Hedgehog’s comic book series is coming to an end.
Sega of America released a statement via the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account, that it’s ending its partnership program with Archie Comics after 24 years.
“After 24 years of memorable storytelling, SEGA of America will conclude their Sonic the Hedgehog publishing partnership program with Archie Comics. This does not mark the end of Sonic in comics, but signifies SEGA of America’s decision to take a different direction for the series that will be announced at a later date. SEGA would like to thank Sonic’s amazing fans for their loyalty and passion over all the years. SEGA looks forward to providing more information soon,” reads Sonic the Hedgehog’s Twitter account.
The Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series first launched in 1993. Publishing more than 200 comic book issues, the series was loved by comic fans from around the world.
We’re not sure why Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series is leaving Archie Comics, but hopefully that means Sonic and Friends will find a new publisher.
