Archer has long held a tradition of crossovers with popular films and TV shows in its promotional shorts, from Top Gun to Miami Vice, and this year, that tradition continues. Just in time for Kingsman: The Golden Circle‘s September release, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con has released a crossover video with Kingsman Gary “Eggsy” Unwin crossing paths with Sterling Mallory Archer, (loudly) self-professed world’s greatest spy, in which they compete in “that most gentlemanly of competitions” – a drinking competition – in an amazing mashup of spy versus spy.
The video starts off with Eggsy dashing across the rooftops of London, using parkour to skim his way down to the streets and flips and turns to navigate through the crowded streets (stopping only to help a less-than-grateful little old lady across the street and out of the path of an oncoming double-decker). He arrives without fanfare to the Kingsman bespoke suit shop, only to discover that Sterling Archer is already inside, helping himself to the selection. But it’s not just the custom-tailored suits that Archer decided to partake in – at his feet is an arsenal of weapons that any other man would question being found inside a tailor’s shop.
Eggsy demands to know where Archer came across the stash, to which Archer reveals having discovered the secret room behind the shop. Eggsy demands that Archer return the goods, to which he, in his usual fashion, declines. Eggsy pulls a gun on Archer, but the world’s greatest spy would never be outdone in a standoff – he pulls one on Eggsy…eggs in return. Eggsy then proposes a drinking competition, something more gentlemanly than a Mexican standoff, but instead gapes as Archer quaffs the entire bottle of liquor before laughing triumphantly, and promptly passing out on the floor.
But reading about the video isn’t quite the same as watching it. You can check out the crossover below.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle premieres in theaters on September 22, while Season 9 of Archer is due out early 2018.
