Background
Kym was born on August 4, 1976 and is a native of Sydney, Australia. Kym started learning to dance at 3 years old and got into ballroom dancing by 13. In 1998, young Kym placed second with her partner, Tomas Atkocevicius at the 1998 Australian Dancesport Championship. The pair also went to the UK Ballroom Championships.
Johnson retired from competitive ballroom dancing in 2001 and went on to perform in events and movies. She debuted on Dancing with the Stars Australia in 2004 and was later cast on the US version of the show.
Relationship with Robert
Robert Herjavec was in a dark place after his first wife split up with him. But things turned around for the Croatian entrepreneur when he was cast on season 20 of Dancing with the Stars.
There, he met his dancing partner Kym Johnson, and the two developed a close bond on set. Although they were eliminated in week eight, they started dating in 2015. Fun fact, Mark Cuban was her dance partner in an earlier season!
Their relationship advanced quickly and the duo married a year later. They had their wedding ceremony in LA and two years later, they had twins Haven and Hudson.
Robert’s First Marriage
Long before meeting Kym, Robert was married to Diane Plese, a licensed optometrist. It’s not known how they first met, but they tied the knot in 1990 and had three kids together – Caprice, Brendan, and Skye.
The relationship lasted 24 years and Diane was with him long before he built up a $200 million fortune. Robert always thought they made a great team. However, Robert reportedly had a three year affair with actress Danielle Vasinova and his marriage with Diane ended in 2014.
Before finding love again, Robert struggled mentally and didn’t enjoy the single life. When Diane filed for divorce in 2015, his relationship with Kym was already public. The divorce finalized in 2016 and Robert had to pay $25 million in the divorce settlement.
Current Ventures
Before marrying a wealthy entrepreneur, Kym Johnson was already a star in her own right. She was a recurring figure in the Dancing with the Stars and was a judge on the Australian version of the series in 2013.
Kym also appeared in other reality shows in her home country such as The Celebrity Apprentice and Australian Celebrity Survivor: Vanuatu. In 2015, she released the 5678 Fitness DVD and the following year published The 5678 Diet book.
Personal Life
In the past, Johnson was engaged to Shane Watson, a former Australian cricketer. Now, she’s happily married to Robert Herjavec and wants to have more kids. Currently, they reside in a lavish home in Bridle Path, Toronto.
