Considered one of the most popular child stars of her time, Raven-Symone was the main character of the Disney Channel sitcom “That’s So Raven.” She initially got her breakthrough on NBC’s The Cosby Show in the 1980’s. The actress also had many musical stints in her career. Raven-Symone has a net worth of $40 million.
Early Life
Raven-Symone Christina Pearman was born to Lydia and Christopher Pearman on December 10, 1985. She was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, with a younger brother named Blaize.
When she was just a baby, her parents signed her up in Atlanta’s Young Faces Inc. Because of this, she appeared in regional newspaper ads. Her family later relocated to New York City.
In their new home, Raven started working for Ford Models at two years old. A year later, they moved to Ossining, Westchester County. The young model studied at Park School there.
Acting Career
At the age of three, Raven went to an audition for the Ghost Dad movie starring Bill Cosby. She wasn’t cast because she was too young, but Bill gave her a role in The Cosby Show. Not long after the series ended, she made her film debut in The Little Rascals.
In 2001, she auditioned for a recurring role on an upcoming Disney sitcom, initially called Absolutely Psychic. However, she ended up being the lead character, and the series was renamed “That’s So Raven.”
It became a hit when it premiered in 2003. After it ended in 2007, Symone remained best friends with her onscreen BFF Anneliese van der Pol. In 2017, she reprised her character in the spinoff “Raven’s Home.” She continues to star in the show up until today.
Music Career
The beloved child actress started singing at seven years old. Raven-Symone received a recording deal from MCA Records and practiced vocals with rapper Missy Elliot for two years.
Around this time, she appeared in movies such as “Dr. Dolittle” and “Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century.” She also voiced Monique on the animated series “Kim Possible.” In 1995, she released her debut album, Here’s to New Dreams.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a big seller and Raven’s contract with MCA ended. So, in 1996, she created her own music label “RayBlaze Records” and went on to release three more studio albums.
Net Worth and Earnings
Raven’s first series, The Cosby Show, made billions from TV revenue alone. Though she hasn’t revealed her per-episode pay on the program, she stated in an Instagram live that she hasn’t touched the money she made from it.
On That’s So Raven, it is reported that she initially made $20,000 per episode and it was later increased to $35,000. Her salary from movies and musical pursuits vary widely. Still, they are a massive factor in Raven Symone’s $40 million fortune.
Personal Life
Raven is openly gay and has a wife named Miranda Maday, whom she married in 2020. They live in a big house in Sherman Oaks, California. In 2022, Symone revealed that she lost 40 pounds with intermittent fasting and a keto diet.
