Jonathan and Drew Scott are the charismatic twins behind HGTV’s hit series “Property Brothers” and have become household names in home improvement. In addition to their spin-off shows, they run multiple businesses in entertainment and construction. The twin reality TV stars have a combined net worth of $200 million.
Early Life
Born as identical twins on April 28, 1979, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Jonathan and Andrew Scott were instilled with a strong work ethic. Their Scottish father (Jim) Scotland moved to the US to work in the film industry. He left his job to take care of the family and relocated to a horse farm in Maple Ridge, Canada.
At seven years old, Jonathan and Drew started a business selling hangers. One woman bought thousands of units from them to sell in Japan.
Later, the pair worked as apprentice clowns at parades and parties. Their father also hired them to help flip properties. At university, Jonathan studied business management and Drew studied kinesiology.
Career Beginnings
During college, Jonathan and Drew tried different things to make money and even tried acting. At 18 years old, the guys bought their first investment property.
Jonathan left college to work as an illusionist but filed for bankruptcy at 20 years old according to the Wall Street Journal. Drew also left school to work as a flight attendant for WestJet.
After the initial failure, Jonathan attended SAIT and got a contractor license. In 2004, Drew also earned his real estate license. Around this time, they got minor acting roles in films like Breaker High and Smallville.
Media Career
With their new qualifications, the twins started Scott Real, Inc and it became a success, eventually opening up three branches. Then, they launched Scott Brothers Entertainment in 2010.
The twin’s independent production firm started out with movies and moved onto television projects. The launch of Property Brothers in 2011 catapulted Jonathan and Drew to international fame. The show aired on HGTV and quickly became a hit. Several spin-off series soon followed.
However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. In 2021, Las Vegas homeowners Mindy and Paul King sued the brothers’ production company after finding improper renovations. Mindy revealed in an interview “They didn’t follow approved plans from the city; it was a total bait and switch.” Shows such as Home Town and Chip and Joanna Gaines have faced similar lawsuits.
Net Worth and Salary
Most of the Scott twins’ wealth comes from their Property Brothers franchise. They have created over ten spin-offs from the original show, which earns them around $75,000 to $150,000 per episode.
Other ventures include the design brand Scott Living, the international production firm Scott Brothers Global, and the lifestyle publication Drew + Jonathan Reveal. In November 2023, Rooms To Go announced a furniture collaboration with the twins but the financials haven’t been disclosed. Jonathan and Drew Scott each have a $100 million fortune.
Personal Lives
Jonathan was once married to WestJet employee Kelsy Ully, but split up in 2010. He’s now dating actress Zooey Deschanel and got engaged in August 2023. In January 2022, the happy couple paid $9.5 million to buy a pRoperty in Los Angeles. On the other hand, Drew tied the knot with entrepreneur, Linda Phun, in 2018. Drew and Linda live in a Drew and Linda’s Tudor-style home in LA.
