Lupita Nyong’o first came on the radar for most of us with her harrowing performance in 12 Years a Slave. She won an Oscar for that film, and she seemed set for a career of “serious actress” work. However, instead Nyong’o finds herself ensconced in the world of blockbuster films. She portrays Maz Kanata in the Star Wars films, and we will see her playing Nakia in Black Panther soon. Yes, Nyong’o is now a part of the Star Wars and Marvel universes. That puts her at the forefront of what Comic-Con audiences are into. Speaking of Comic-Con, despite being a famous face, Nyong’o was able to go around this year’s Comic-Con unnoticed, thanks to a bit of costuming.

After her time at Comic-Con was over, Nyong’o posted a video to Twitter asking the question “Did you see me at Comic-Con?” It turns out Nyong’o took to Comic-Con’s crowded floor dressed as the pink Power Ranger. She didn’t have your typical Power Ranger mask on, though. Instead, she seemed to be wearing one of those masks the Jabbawockeez wear, and also big ass sunglasses.
Nyong’o didn’t just walk around Comic-Con. She was acted pretty ridiculous, hopping around and dancing and seemingly having a great time. Yet, despite all the attention she was surely calling to herself with her antics, nobody seemed to say, “Hey, is that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o?” That’s the power of Comic-Con.
