For some men, recognition enters their lives in mostly predictable ways. They become sports stars or famous politicians. Or maybe they become part of an important news event by being in the right place at the right time and acting as heroes.
It’s safe to say that very few imagine achieving fame as the husband of one of the stars of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but that’s what happened to Luis Ruelas when he married Teresa Guidice.
As that sentence implies, it’s an unusual journey, so let’s examine the path Ruelas took to become a famous Real Housewives husband. As of 2023, Luis Ruelas has a net worth of $2 million, so it certainly has been a profitable path.
Early Days
Ruelas was born in 1975 in either New York or Allendale, New Jersey, depending on which account of his life you choose to believe. He did actually go to a school named after a bridge, Tappan Zee high school, but there’s no evidence of a college degree in any account of his life.
In 1992 he founded Interactive Marketing Solutions in Nanuet, New York, and Ruelas quickly showed a flair for the marketing/advertising hustle.
Business Success
While his first company was successful, Ruelas hit marketing paydirt when he cofounded Digital Media Solutions Group in 2012.
Marketing jargon was part of the package. The group claims to be able to create a “more efficient advertising ecosystem” while helping connect clients with “high-intent” potential customers.
Ruelas definitely takes an up-front, in-your-face approach to business success. He claims to have been “ruling the digital marketing industry” for 25 years, and he’s quick to add that he helps his clients “dominate” social media.
Fame Comes Calling: A Jersey Wife
It was only when he met and married Teresa Guidice that Ruelas became famous, though. The businessman wasn’t shy about the opportunity, and he says she “brought him to his knees.”
As for Guidice, she’s a staple of “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” which features bold, brassy Jersey gals doing whatever it is New Jersey housewives do to attract viewers.
The bombshell brunette was captivated by Ruelas, and after a ten-month engagement, they tied the knot, which was basically a fait accompli given that they’ve already purchased a home worth just over $3.25 million.
But this love match hasn’t been all sunshine and roses. One of Guidice’s castmates, Margaret Josephs, has claimed that Ruelas has a dark side and that his relationship with his ex-wife didn’t end well.
His ex filed a lawsuit against him in 2020, stating that he abandoned her in Provincetown, then locked her out of their New Jersey home.
She also claimed that Ruelas founded his company as a “gift” to her, then decided to take over the firm. She tried to stop him from running the business but was dismissed a month after being filed.
The spotlight now turns to their efforts to raise their unique Brady Bunch-like blended family. Guidice has four daughters, while Ruelas brings two sons to the party whom he shares with his ex-wife, Marisa Demartino.
Will Ruelas live happily ever after with his new lady love? The smart money says to bet under on that one – given all the controversy that comes with being a reality TV star. There are probably still plenty of twists and turns in Luis Ruelas’s love life as he travels the winding road that is reality show love.
