Lookism took the world by storm when Netflix released an anime adaptation of the well-received webtoon. It was loved by both critics and viewers. But now that the first season is done, fans are dying to know if there will be a season two and the possible things that could happen in the story’s continuation. Season two of Lookism won’t be released until the fall of 2023.
The Story So Far
Lookism is a South Korean webtoon written and illustrated by Park Tae-joon. Weekly publication started in 2014, and it’s still ongoing. It steadily increased in fame until getting a Chinese drama adaptation in 2019. Its Netflix version aired three years later.
The manhwa’s plot revolves around Daniel Park (Park Hyung-Seok), an overweight teenager and frequent target of bullies. Not long after transferring to a new school, he discovered that he could switch inside a handsome guy’s body at will.
He used this newfound power to become popular on campus and do all the things he never could with his original look. Apart from an attractive face, Daniel’s seemingly perfect form is talented in music, giving him more recognition.
Season Two Rumors
The story tackles many themes that are relatable to young people and executes them well. This is one of the biggest reasons why viewers loved it. The anime racked in a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season one ended in eight episodes, but as mentioned, the webtoon is still ongoing. This means that there’s still a good amount of source material to cover if there’s a season two. So, will there be a season two for Lookism?
Reports say that the second season will drop in the fall of 2023 with eight more episodes. Netflix hasn’t confirmed this yet, but there’s a good chance it’s true. The series has good ratings, and its production studio, Studio Mir, has a positive relationship with Netflix.
Potential Spoilers
The season finale left off when Daniel Park won a music contest. If you check out the webtoon, the continuation of the hero’s journey is in chapter 28. But since we have no way of knowing if they stick to the manhwa 100%, we can only guess what’s coming next.
Season one showcased many benefits of Daniel’s ability, so season two could explore the disadvantages. And because there were a lot of unanswered questions in the first eight episodes, fans might be able to solve some of these mysteries when the show returns.
