If you’re a fan of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” you’ve noticed Jamie Vernon, aka Young Jamie quietly working behind the scenes. The podcast producer’s job is to ensure everything runs smoothly and of course, pull up random videos for Rogan.
But you probably don’t know much about his journey, and you’re curious about how much Rogan pays him! Fans estimate that Vernon makes $125,000 to $150,000 per year. Earning a six figure salary and working closely with Joe Rogan is a dream job for many.
Vernon joined Rogan’s crew in 2013, when he was hired as an assistant to help Brian Redban. What ended up happening was something else entirely. The show’s explosive popularity was triggered when Rogan and company won the Best Comedy Podcast of 2012 award.
With the podcast’s growth, Redban lacked the technical skills and wasn’t very professional. Joe in particular disliked how Redban would interrupt shows. Young Jamie on the other hand, only speaks when required.
Vernon quickly earned Rogan’s trust, and had the relevant training to take over the role. Born and raised in Ohio, he attended Full Sail University in Winter Park Florida, a school that offers degrees in audio and video, design and computer animation.
What Vernon brings to the show is a quick wit, lightning-fast typing skills, and, of course, the ability to appeal to a younger demographic, although “Young” Jamie is now 41.
Still, the contrast between the two men is obvious. While Rogan often displays an interest in muscle cars, Young Jamie shows an obsessive interest in sneakers, especially Yeezy’s.
Photography and video games are another one of his strong interests. He’s listed as a partner for Twitch, the live video streaming service. His favorite games include Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Planet Unknown’s Battlegrounds.
Not surprisingly, Young Jamie has been churning out merch on the show as well. He now has an apparel brand, and he’s gotten attention for his offbeat shirts and hoodies emblazoned with logos like Powerful, YNG JME and Round Earth Shill.
He’s also an avid Ohio State fan and a golfer, and during his salad days he played in a band that once opened for another touring band, the not-so-memorable Mudvayne.
2024 will soon mark Jamie’s 12th year on one of the world’s biggest podcasts. There’s no doubt he’s played an important role in building Rogan’s audience and unlike Redban, he uploads videos on time! I’m sure Jamie also benefited financially when Rogan scored a mega deal with Spotify.
In regards to his love life, Jamie is single and little is known about his dating history. I’d assume he’d like to keep it that way. The podcast producer now has over 550,000 followers on Instagram, a huge number for someone who likes to stay away from the limelight.
