‘For Honor:’ Ubisoft Unveils Content-Packed Third Season

Matt CabralBy Matt CabralAugust 3, 2017

Last week we reported on Ubisoft Montreal’s ambitious plans to bring fresh content and fixes to their Viking versus Samurai versus Knight melee-focused combat game For Honor. Today we have word the execution of these plans will begin with the game’s third season, dubbed Grudge & Glory. Launching simultaneously on all platforms August 15th, the DLC will add new heroes, maps, gear, ranked play, and plenty of gameplay-tweaking updates.

The updates and maps will be free for all players, while new heroes–the Highlander and Gladiator–will be free for season pass holders beginning August 15th. The new combatants can also be unlocked in-game, starting August 22nd, for 15,000 steel. New Season 3 maps include Sentinel and Viking Village, which add new battlefields to the existing world map, as well as fresh environmental hazards. A new legendary gear rarity, an upped reputation cap of 40, and 1v1 duel tournaments, for all platforms, will also help make Grudge & Glory the game’s biggest to date.

In addition to the intel and trailer, Ubisoft provided official descriptions for the new pair of heroes:

    • Highlander (Viking Hybrid) –Highlanders are patient heroes capable of switching between two different fighting forms. Their defensive form allows for counter-attacking and trading blows, while their offensive form empowers them to unleash their deadliest attacks at the expense of being able to block. Wielding the heaviest and longest sword in the game, the Highlander’s massive claymore gives them a deadly combination of strength and range.
    • Gladiator (Knight Assassin) – Wielding a trident and shield, Gladiators have made a living off of killing for sport, and now bring their ruthlessness and skill to war. Equipped with little armor, they can punch their opponents to create separation to set up attacks and stuns. Their larger stamina meter and reduced cool down times make them extremely agile and dangerous opponents.
