Cute global icons and dot-chomping videogame heroes collide in a collaboration that could put peanut butter and chocolate’s meeting to shame. Beginning today, classic blue ghost-busting gaming avatar PAC-MAN and pop-culture phenomenon Hello Kitty cross paths in Hello Kitty ♥ PAC-MAN, an adorable, limited-time free update to Google Play‘s and the App Store‘s PAC-MAN mobile game. Available until August 19th, the new content will feature the famous feline, along with special in-game integrations, themed levels, customized icons, and, of course, ghosts.
The too-cute collaboration is actually part of a bigger partnership between Sanrio and Bandai Namco, which is also introducing a brand new line of merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, socks, tote bags, pins, and a Hello Kitty ♥ PAC-MAN collectible figure set. While some of these goods will be available at specialty retailers this fall, fans can get the jump on collecting them at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con expo.

No word on whether or not this match made in pop-culture heaven will give way to additional products or videogames, but Bandai Namco VP of Marketing Eric Hartness shared his enthusiasm for what we hope will be the beginning of a long friendship. “Hello Kitty and PAC-MAN have both endeared themselves to pop culture fans around the world for decades, it’s about time that these two became best-friends. We look forward to celebrating this new friendship with fans at Comic-Con and have them experience the limited-time Hello Kitty update to the PAC-MAN app as they chomp dots, weave through corners, and avoid colorful ghosts.”
