Netflix has been focusing more on original programming, which has led some to complain that the streaming options outside of Netflix’s own properties has been dwindling. However, one area that hasn’t been true in has been with Disney properties. Disney’s movies, and TV shows, have been all over Netflix, which is good, since people love Disney. Even newer movies, like Moana and Finding Dory, are available. Alas, all things must pass. Disney is planning to pull all its stuff off Netflix, but they aren’t going to leave us hanging.
The reason Disney is doing this is because they are planning on starting their own streaming service. That makes sense. Disney is one of the biggest companies in the world, and their back catalog is massive. They can easily sustain their own streaming service, especially if the Star Wars movies are included as well. Maybe they’ll even include Song of the South!
Now, you don’t need to frantically start binging Disney movies on Netflix. You’ve got time. The deal isn’t ending until 2019, when Disney’s new streaming service will launch as well. If you are a huge Disney fan, obviously this isn’t a problem. On the other hand, people who have Netflix but are only casual Disney fans, people who want to watch one or two movies but don’t need a whole back catalog, may find themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place.
