Battlestar Galactica got a real boost in popularity after the show got a fancy serious remake that ran from 2004 until 2009. It originally began as a kind of silly ’70s sci-fi show that was swiftly forgotten, but thanks to Ronald D. Moore’s gritty reboot, Battlestar Galactica is likely to remain a part of our popular culture. As such, there is a new Battlestar Galactica video game coming out, and a trailer has been released showcasing the battle gameplay.
The game is called Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, and it takes place during the First Cylon War. The Cylons are, of course, the longstanding bad guys of the Battlestar Galactica universe. In the game, you play as the Colonial Fleet from the bridge of the mobile shipyard Daidalos and you take on Cylons in a series of 3D battles.
Those 3D battles are the focal point of this trailer. The trailer makes sure to point out that the video was produced entirely through using the game’s autocam replay. That is to say, this isn’t some souped-up, cinematic stuff. You can get a real sense of what playing Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will be like here.
The game will be released August 31 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC.
