New Co-Op Horror Shooter ‘GTFO’ Announced

New game developer 10 Chambers Collective has officially announced its first game, a four-player hardcore co-op action horror first-person shooter named GTFO. The release date and platforms haven’t been specified yet, but – given that 10 Chambers was founded by Ulf Andersson, the designer of Payday and Payday 2 – it’s likely to release on PC and current-gen consoles.

GTFO is a colloquial acronym that’s short for Get The F— Out, which may be an apt title for this mysterious horror game in which you must work together as a team in order to survive.

“When we started 10 Chambers Collective, we set out to make a game for the cooperative FPS community that would really put them to the test. A game where you don’t just depend on one another for firepower, but truly work together,” said Andersson in a statement announcing GTFO.

The shooter will take you and up to three friends into hostile and terrifying environments that will test your group with an endless string of unknown and ever-challenging challenges. Technically, you can play the game solo, says Andersson, but your chances of survival are practically nil without support from other players.

“Every expedition in GTFO is unique and the game lets you make informed decisions on what equipment and weapons to bring – but even then survival is not guaranteed,” said Simon Viklund, composer of the Payday franchise, and a member of 10 Chambers.

“GTFO throws so many curveballs and unknown factors at you that you and your team always have to stay on your toes – and the atmosphere is suffocatingly intense,” he continued. “It’s nerve wracking to play even for us developers! If you’re easily scared, wear your brown pants.”

A teaser trailer doesn’t offer much in the way of gameplay, only showing a fast-moving elevator (?) descending into a gaping chasm through what looks like building wreckage. The overall setup for GTFO sounds reminiscent of the 2005 movie thriller The Descent, in which a group of spelunkers are hunted by a group of cave-dwelling monsters. But until we know more details, that’s pure speculation.
