Monster Hunter XX was released for the Nintendo 3DS in March, but it is now scheduled to come out for Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch, as well. Capcom has provided some more information on the upcoming Switch version of their game, as well as its compatibility with the 3DS version.
The Switch version of Monster Hunter XX is no different from the 3DS version in terms of content, but the Switch version supports 1080p resolution when it’s docked, and 720p in handheld mode. Additionally, you will be able to transfer saved data from the 3DS version of the game to the Switch version if you so choose. On top of that, the Switch version will support cross-play with the 3DS version, although that’s only in online sessions.
Monster Hunter XX will come out on Switch in Japan, where the series is immensely popular, on August 25. If you already have the 3DS version, it seems like there is at least some justification for getting the Switch version as well.
