The Wii U may be in its death throes, but that hasn’t stopped a new game from making its debut on the dying system. It just so happens that one more game came out today for the Wii U, and it’s Darksiders Warmastered Edition.
Of course, this technically isn’t a brand new game. It’s a remastered version of Darksiders, which originally released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC back in 2010. The Warmastered Edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC already made their debut last November, leaving the Wii U version out in the cold. Rumors flew, as they usually do, that the game had been canceled outright, but the game has finally made it to store shelves and you can actually buy it right now. It’s a decent hurrah for a system that deserved more, even if it is just a remastered edition.
For anyone who hasn’t played Darksiders to begin with, it’s an enjoyable enough action-adventure title with role-playing elements. It received a sequel, which also was released as a remastered edition, though its title was the Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition. Clever.
The Warmastered Edition adds HD resolution and 60 FPS, but the Wii U version remains at 30 FPS. For only $20, that’s a small price to pay for a little hit on frame rate, and it’s likely not going to be an easy find if you’re a collector. For a pittance, you might want to go ahead and pick it up if you’ve got the extra cash laying around somewhere.
