Netflix has made the opposite of a huge mistake. We can stop wishing and dreaming for a fifth season of Arrested Development, because it is officially happening. It has been announced that the whole gang is getting back together for a new season in 2018.
This news brings a lot of excitement, and also a ton of relief. Ever since Arrested Development was cancelled by FOX after its third season, speculation about future seasons has run rampant. The tale of the Bluth family and all their wheeling and dealing first ended in 2006, before it was brought back for a fourth season in 2013. That fourth Netflix season led to rumors of a fifth, and now it seems like it will finally happen, albeit five years after season four. If nothing else Arrested Development is in the running for weirdest life cycle.
It’s also in the running for one of the best sitcoms of all-time. Some people were disappointed in the fourth season, and the transition to Netflix was a little rough, but it was still really good. As previously noted, the whole cast is reportedly going to be involved. We’re talking Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Will Arnett, and presumably Mae Whitman (Her?). As a wise man once said, there’s always money in the banana stand.
