Dating apps like Tinder are great when you’re looking to hookup, but not when it comes to making meaningful new friendships.
There’s a new social app called Me3 that wants to help adults of all ages create genuine new friendships. How does the Me3 app work? The app connects you with the most compatible people in your location through group chats of three called “Tribes.” Users can also join as many Tribes as they want and each one will feature people with shared traits, mutual interests and goals. The algorithm uses machine learning which will help predict friendship compatibility and improve matches the more you use the app.
“I found it incredibly difficult to make meaningful new friendships after college,” Julian Ilson, Co-Founder and CEO of Me3, told TechieGamers. “Building friendships from scratch was frustrating, time-consuming, and often disappointing.” That’s what inspired Ilson to develop the Me3 app, which would help break down the social anxiety of trying to make new friendships as an adult.
“It’s so easy to shed friends, you don’t have to do anything for that to happen automatically. But making new ones is a mountain of effort so most people just don’t do it,” Ilson told TechieGamers. “I want to make it extremely easy for that to happen. By finding the perfect people and not making you sift through all the others that we already know you won’t get along.”
The Me3 app is currently available in New York City, but will expand once the app reaches 500 users in other locations. You can download the Me3 app from the App Store and Google Play.
